Lets start with what will probably come to the minds of most first - the wooden dummy! Great for learning proper position of techniques (given the size of the dummy and the person using it) and power. It's also used for conditioning of the hands, forearms, shins or anything you choose to bang into it! It will help to better understand distance, footwork and movement. Can be used to practice sticking, trapping, sweeps, strikes, pulls, pushes, slaps etc. Almost whatever you can imagine. Just use caution not to go too hard initially until your body is conditioned to it, or you will be needing jow! (see the post on dit da jow). Dummies come in different sizes, types of wood or plastic and even metal. Most traditional Wing Chun Dummies have three arms, two higher and parallel and the third centered below the two. Prices vary depending on quality, quantity, and location of shipping.
